PS> I am still looking around for the EPSON LQ-2550 driver that I could use for color printouts in GEOS "land". I tried the LQ 2500 driver in monochrome ( black character ) printouts but as it seemed to be a slow one, I went back and started using the EPSON FX-80 driver again in GEOS.
That Epson24color driver IS the LQ2550 driver, just named differently so I would remember what it was! <grin> That driver should work with your BJ-4000 in LQ mode for color output in GEOS. I can't confirm that, since I don't have a BJ-4000, but it works with my Panasonic 2123 in Epson mode with the optional color kit installed.

GS> Has anyone had any luck at all printing geoPublish documents containing MEGA FONTS, such as the ones that come with the geoPublish disk, using geoPublaser on a laser printer?
I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but I would suspect the reason you are having trouble with the Megafonts on your laser is because they are bit-mapped fonts, and treated as bit-mapped graphics rather than scaleable fonts like the LW fonts. From *my* understanding, the LW fonts are written so as to take advantage of the fonts available internally in your printer. The LQ fonts of Perfect Print are scaleable, but I don't know if they will work the same way with geopublaser. The Collette Utilities disk has quite a bit of stuff for working with postscript printers, and might be worth your investigation. It also has some patches for geopublaser on that disk so you can print to file or use a geocable, BTW. Of course, CMD also carries this disk. I got it a couple of years ago primarily for the updated Font Editor V2.5 that Jim wrote, which also allows you to edit Megafonts as well as the Perfect Print LQ fonts. Anyway, FWIW.

MPS-803
From : Nelson Schrock
To : Gil Parrish
Dear Gil,
In a recent message you said that while using Geos your 803 cuts off the right edge. That's because the 803 can only handle 60 dps, whereas Geos sends it as 80. To fix this just set your right limit to 60, (on the scale on the top of Geowrite). And you'll see that your documents now print correctly. There is also a Geos printer driver that will automatically adjust to 60 dpi. It kind of squeezes the characters. I would suggest just changing the right margin to 60. But you have to keep this in mind when printing with the 803.

RP> You were wondering why your Star NX-1000C chops off the right third of your GEOS documents while replying to another user and what to do.
RP> Here's my answer (no quoting available right now):
Your printer (as well as most other direct connect printers) only has 60 dpi resolution, while non-Commodore ready printers have 80dpi or better. There isn't much you can do about that, except for maybe trying out the Star SG-10C MD printer driver, which kind of fudges 80 dpi out of such printers as yours. (It works, but is *really* slow, and doesn't look quite as good as a true 80dpi printer.)
You rather missed the mark on this one, Ray. ;-) The NX-1000C IS capable of 80 dpi. I'm surprised someone else didn't jump on this, since I know there are several who use the NX-1000C. Inside the 1000C are dip switches that control what mode the printer uses (i.e. Commodore/ASCII) Using GEOS, one needs to set it in ASCII mode for 80 dpi. There is a PD or shareware driver floating around called "Ultimate NX1000" that also allows one to access the printer's NLQ fonts from within GEOS, as well as use the three pass printing for graphic fonts at the 240x216 resolution the printer is capable of.
